Job Description:

As the Building Engineer you will maintain and operate the HVAC system and the building management system. This is a hands-on role that requires a high level of proficiency in building systems, electricity, equipment repairs, building design, and general building maintenance. The Building Engineer must know structural systems, control systems, and code requirements to diagnose complex mechanical systems. The campus grounds cover two city blocks (200,000 square feet) and three smaller offsite locations. The person in this position will report directly to the Director of Campus Operations and work closely with the Facilities & Maintenance Manager.

Core Responsibilities:

Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed
Works with the Director and Manager to establish and maintain effective preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems
Track and investigates mechanical, electrical and plumbing problems and coordinates their repair with the Facilities & Maintenance Manager
Guide, oversee and supervise contractors when performing inspections or repairs as assigned
Assist the contractor in getting building permits for the upcoming construction
Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods
Coordinate between the construction contractor and the project lead to resolve field discrepancies in design packages and material delays
Provide input to the Director of Campus Operations on issues related to energy management, system additions, improvements or corrections, and equipment conditions
May need to respond to emergency situations that arise during the day, such as leaks, power outages, etc.
Adhere to all OSHA, federal, and state safety guidelines

Required Education and Experience: 

3+ years' experience in the commercial building maintenance or construction field is required which includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations for commercial office buildings
HVAC technical training and EPA refrigeration licenses preferred
Basic understanding in Building Automation Systems, preventative maintenance and work order systems
Schedule: Monday through Friday 6am - 3pm 
Compensation: $76K - 108K annually
