Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer, driven to create and grow cutting edge technologies for a high-growth, flight control and electric Vertical Takeoff and Land (e-VTOL) aircraft company? Would you like to get into a rapidly growing company and help design, simulate, build and test our revolutionary new aerial vehicle? We're looking for an energetic, highly creative, hands-on doer who is well versed in model-based systems engineering, human-centered design and aerospace best practices. You could be the teammate we're looking for, responsible for leading the mechanical elements for our revolutionary new aircraft!


The role reports directly to the CEO/CTO and works very closely with our Lead Systems Engineer/Lead Software Engineer, as well as our talented electrical engineering and software development staff. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be a thought leader for hybrid-powered e-VTOL and the human-machine interfaces that operate them. This role will also be instrumental in guiding the direction of future innovations, to include other product initiatives including surgical robotics, industrial robotics and VR/AR motion control. S/he will also be involved in our operational flight test program, assuring our future customers have the very best flight experiences possible.

         You're flexible enough to work outside your comfort zone at times (small company = wide variety of tasks and responsibilities)

         You're a strong relationship builder, and can work closely with our Engineering, R&D, Industrial Design and other partners to engineer the best experience for our customers

  • 5-10 years (minimum) of experience with design of large, complex assemblies as well as electro-mechanical assemblies, using 3D modeling packages in relevant industries (Aerospace, Med Tech, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of experience with injection molding and injection molding processes and design
  • Expertise with Solidworks, 3-D Printing and CNC prototyping (Fusion 360 experience a plus)
  • Hands on assembly expertise a must (prototypes built by hand)
  • Must be familiar with electro-mechanical assembly design requirements, quality, and design improvement
  • BSME or BS in Mechanical Engineering required





  • Oversee mechanical activities for new and sustaining products
  • Serve as mechanical subject matter expert for company products including design
  • Incorporate DfX, DfM, and DfQ in all activities
  • Perform rapid prototyping and evolution, via internal or external sources
  • Handle material selection and design cost control
  • Identify root cause and creative corrective action for all product mechanical issues
  • Ensure accurate and timely engineering change implementation, throughout the product supply chain
  • Shorten problem resolution cycle times for all manufacturing and customer issues related to mechanical piece parts
  • Maintain constant product design improvements
  • Reduce product development cycle times, while maintaining product quality through continuous improvement
  • Take ideas all the way from CAD design to commercial products


Preferred Skills:


  • Design, Manufacturing, Assembly, and relevant industry experience (Aerospace, Consumer Electronics, IOT Hardware, Med Tech Devices, etc.)
  • Mechanical design experience, design cycles (prefer a minimum of 5 unique designs)
  • Gut level knowledge of stresses in parts (you can look at something and have a good idea if it will hold up to the required stresses given the shape and material)
  • Desired Disciplines: BSME, MSME, BSMET, BSAE (aerospace), and MSAE (aerospace)
  • Familiarity with drones and R/C or conventional aircraft (as a vocation or hobby) is a plus
  • FAA Part 107 (Drone) license is a plus, but not required
