• Customer has a process that uses a batch assembler program that dynamically calls other assembler modules
• The original caretakers of the code are no longer employed at the shop
• There is some documentation of how the program functions, but it is at a high level
• The code has not been touched in years
• The program has multiple processing modes, but at least one function no longer works (incremental vs. full update mode)
• The source code has not been under any sort of formal change control process
• They have a test set of data to evaluate any code changes
